After the successful hosting of a unique two-day Masterclass training program on Corporate Sustainability on the 5th & 6th of April, 2017 at LCCI Conference & Exibition Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos; and in fulfillment of our organisation’s mandate towards advancing and contributing to seeking practical/workable solutions to sustainable development issues,
Centre for Global Solutions and Sustainable Development (CENGSSUD) has now officially announced the launching of the second edition of its sustainability program called: BUSINESS SUSTAINABILITY MASTERCLASS 2.0, PORT HARCOURT. With the Theme: Building Capacity & Leaders for Sustainable Business.
The program will be held at the VENUE: The Autograph, 30/33, Sani Abacha Road, GRA, Port Harcourt. DATE & TIME: 20th & 21st, June, 2017. Time is 9.am -5pm daily.
The primary aim of this first-of-its-kind Sustainability Masterclass training program is to bring conceptual clarity about sustainability in theory and practice to organizations by helping them understand the three pillars of sustainable development (Social, Economic and Environment) and their role in “creating value”(production) and “capturing value”(marketing) in businesses. The modules/curriculum will caught-across a ‘Plan-Do-Check-Act’ approach to understanding the journey of sustainability, as well as group activities and interactive brainstorming which would instill confidence in the attendees to champion their companies’ sustainability practices.
The planning phase will encompass the Principles and trends of sustainable development, business cases of successful models and creating a sustainable strategy of one’s own business. The do/implementation phase includes showcasing frameworks to business strategists on how to integrate a resource efficiency approach, reduce the risks related to sustainability and how to frame investments for saving natural capital relevant to the organizations business goals and stakeholders. The checking phase includes monitoring and tracking sustainability progress, coordinating with both internal stakeholders such as employees and external stakeholders such as the community and government. Finally, the act phase which includes communicating sustainability through reporting based on both international and nationally acclaimed frameworks such as the Global Reporting Initiative, UN Global Compact: Communication on Progress, ISO 26000: Social Responsibility etc.

The Masterclass will be delivered by 6 brilliant, distinguished and experienced Faculty from cross-sector industries. The Faculty members include:
Dr. Uwem Ite: who is the External Relations Adviser, Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited, with over ten (15) years practical experience in sustainability practice and achievements in the oil and gas industry. He holds his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from University of Cambridge, where he studied, Environment and Sustainable Development between 1992 -1995. He also bagged his Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree from University of Cambridge and he studied Environment and Development between 1991 and 1992.
Dr. Mina Ogbanga: Country Director/Chief Innovation Officer, Center for Development Support Initiatives (CEDSI Nigeria), She is a sound Development Consultant with demonstrated expertise in Sustainability, Socioeconomic surveys and impact analysis, Performance Management and Strategic Planning. She has PhD(s) in Sustainable Development and PhD in Public Policy and Administration. She also studied Sustainability at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and had Master in Sustainability Studies at the University of Cambridge between 2006-2007
Dr. Patricks-Ekedede, Chinemerem (KSJI),MNES,MITD,MNMGS: Member IFTDO Developing Countries Committee & Visiting Lecturer: Center for Petroleum Geosciences, University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He is an international research, training and knowledge exchange/development consultant in Environmental safety and Sustainable Development as well as a consultant groundwater management and Forensic Geoscientist.
Pius Ughakpoteni MA, MBA, MCIPR, MCMI: He is Management Practitioner; Futuristic Sustainability and Doctorate Researcher, Henley Business School, University of Readings. UK. He is presently an Assistant Director at the Niger Delta Development Commission, He is an expert of sustainability with a Master degree from Henley Business School, Studying Exploring how C-Suite execs realise corporate sustainability performance advancement in their organisations, he also has master degree from University of Cumbria, in Leadership and Sustainability and also Master of Arts in Leading Innovation and Change from York St. John University.
ESSIEN MFON CHUKWUNOMSO: He is an Environmental Sustainability professional with Cross-cultural & international experience (Middle East & Africa) in developing, coordinating and implementing sustainability & environmental risk management initiatives. He is the Supervisor, Environmental/Renewable & Sustainable Energy Department, Nestoil Limited.He has Master of Science (MSc) in Energy from Heriot-Watt University and also Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Environmental Protection and Resource Management from University of Calabar
Debo Adeniyi: He is the Executive Director and Global Sustainability Leader at Centre for Global Solutions and Sustainable Development (CENGSSUD), and also the MD/CEO, Debscom Technolgy Ltd. He has extensive experience and expertise working on Corporate Sustainability, Responsible Business, Sustainable Development Goals, International Law, Diplomacy, International Development, Foreign Policy, International peace & Security, Global Governance, etc. Debo holds Master degrees in International Law and Diplomacy (MILD) and BA in Philosophy from University of Lagos Nigeria.
